I got to know this info, some time last summer and I try to implement it...though occasionally...but for sure, if my car was under the sun.
I got this as fwd email again from a friend today and thought of sharing it, as it helps us all and most us drive/car pool on a daily basis.
So here is the thing on what I am talking about..
"My car book says to roll down the windows to let out all the hot air before turning on A/C (Air-Conditioning).
No wonder more people are dying from cancer than ever. "Where this stuff comes from?" is the usual question.
Here is an example that explains an incident causing cancer.
Many more people nowadays drive almost 7 days a week.
Please pass this on to as many people as possible, and I guess it's not too late to make some changes for this summer.
Instructions:
Please do NOT turn on A/C as soon as you enter the car.
Open the windows after you enter your car and then turn ON the AC after a couple of minutes.
Here's why: According to research, the car dashboard, seats and air freshener emit Benzene, a toxin which causes cancer (carcinogen - take time to observe the smell of heated plastic in your car).
In addition to causing cancer, Benzene poisons your bones, causes anemia and reduces white blood cells. Prolonged exposure will cause Leukemia, increasing the risk of cancer. Can also cause miscarriage for pregnant women.
Acceptable Benzene level indoors is 50 mg per sq. ft.
A car parked indoors with windows closed will contain 400-800 mg of Benzene.
If parked outdoors under the sun at a temperature above 60 degrees F, the Benzene level goes up to 2000-4000 mg, 40 times the acceptable level.
People who get into the car, keeping windows closed will inevitably inhale, in quick succession, excessive amounts of the toxin.
Benzene is a toxin that affects your kidney and liver.. Worse, it is extremely difficult for your body to expel this toxic substance.
So, don't hesitate to take time to open the windows and the door of your car - give time for interior to air out -dispel the deadly stuff - before you enter. "

Support the cause -Good Stuff - Bank Of America customers!
Hey guyz,
Wanted to share some good stuff, which I have learnt today @ BOA center. Guess, some of you might be aware of this, but I am sure, most of you are not. So, this is my small attempt to make those unaware ppl, aware :).
Anyway, coming back to the main point, It was a general visit to the local BOA center today and got to know that we can support for any good cause with our checking/debit card..@ no additional cost to us (BOA will donate on behalf of the supporters for that particular cause). Causes we can support include World Wildlife Fund / Cancer organizations/ Diabetes Organizations / Forests Preservation / Ocean Conservancies and many more... By the way, the only change for us will be the change of the regular blue BOA debit card to the one with the picture of the cause.
I extended my support for the World Wildlife Fund(below is the link)...So, for which cause, you will be supporting? Please Support and Please share this news across!

A serious warning on luggage !
Hello Frnz,
Please take care while travelling with luggage to different countries and esp when travelling via gulf countries and that too when the luggage is given by relatives or friends. I got the below email from a friend which talks more on the details related to this.
Source : Fwd Email
Dear Friends,
Yesterday only I came to know of a case from a friend of mine which is very scary. One of his friends was traveling to UK via Dubai . Unfortunately he was carrying a packet of Khas Khas which is a commonly used spice in some Indian curries and sweets. Khas Khas is also known as poppy seed which can be sprouted to grow nar**tics (afeem etc.).
This innocent person did not know that recently the laws in UAE and other Gulf countries have been revised and carrying Khas Khas is punishable with minimum 20 years of imprisonment or even worse with death penalty . Currently, the person is in a jail in Dubai for the last two weeks. His friends are frantically trying hard for his release but are finding that this has become a very very serious case. Lawyers are asking huge fees amounting to AED 100,000 even to appear in the court to plead for his innocence.
Please forward this email to all you know specially in India . They should know the seriousness of this matter and should never ever carry even minutest quantities of the following items when traveling to Gulf countries:
1. Khas Khas whether raw, roasted or cooked.
2. Paan
3. Beetle nut (supari and its products, e.g. Paan Parag etc.)
The penalties are very severe and it could destroy the life of an innocent person.
mee,
RaghuRockz
